  2. Class #2
    High School Internet Research Class

High school students know how to use Facebook very well. However, Pew Research Studies reveal most high school students do not know how to use the Internet for effective research activity. Many students do not go beyond using Google as their main source of informationThis practice is analogous to using one book for a research project.

I conduct a one and half hour PowerPoint presentation in which I go through a detailed explanation of the powerful options available to find verifiable and relevant research information.
The presentation is given in an appropriate level for high school students.

Students receive a hard copy of key source lists. I use an interactive format in which questions are answered, and there is free discussion of the various methods presented.

Cost: $250.00  [for a 90-minutes presentation]

To maintain a reasonable class size, a second class can be scheduled, on the same site, on the same day, for an additional $200.

Faculty and staff members are, of course, welcome to attend. (PowerPoint presentation)

Whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction, your descriptions and references must be accurate.  Never underestimate your reader. Facts, references and accurate details are critical examples of professional writers.

What is the difference between a revolver and pistol?

Does it matter? You bet. You do not want an editor or reader to lose respect for your work and damage your credibility. Hear more examples of how inaccuracies lost writers jobs and literary contracts.

To avoid these mistakes, discover the top six research sites and facilities to find just about everything on anything.

(Lecture only)
